Future Pipe signed a membership agreement with the Non-metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) and is now an “Associate”. The ceremony took place in the presence of ADNOC representatives at ADIPEC 2022 which was held at ADNEC Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Non-Metallic Innovation Centre was formed in partnership between TWI, ARAMCO and ADNOC with the aim of advancing the use of non-metallic materials for Oil & Gas. NIC started in September 2019 and is based at TWI’s headquarters near Cambridge, UK. NIC combines academia and industry together to create a continuous chain between universities producing high-level research and industries that require academic-level analysis for real world applications. The NIC initiates research programmes with partners from academic institutions, research centres, composites materials manufacturers and Oil & Gas companies. These research programmes enable the wider deployment of non-metallic materials.

Non-metallic Innovation Centre’s two key objectives are:

  1. Promote innovation through disruptive technology – developing solutions using Non-metallic materials to address Oil & Gas industry challenges.
  2. Support the commercialisation of innovative products – expanding the commercial availability of Non-metallic products while reducing transportation, installation and maintenance costs of pipes and pipelines. Future Pipes Ind. Non-metallic pipes are increasingly deployed across multiple industries, including Oil & Gas and they offer several advantages. They are corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and durable. Non-metallic materials in the Oil & Gas industry are seen as a key in maintaining the integrity, and safe and reliable operations. The cost of corrosion across all sectors worldwide was estimated at approximately $2.5 trillion due to maintenance, repairs, and shutdowns.

Through the NIC Associate membership, Future Pipe have access to:

  1. World class subject matter experts.
  2. Foreground generated by NIC activities (Technology reviews, Market studies, training courses …
  3. Research sponsors.
  4. Collaborations with different stakeholders under NIC umbrella (suppliers, technology providers, end-users,… to achieve a common goal.
